Sample Itinerary

Day 1 | Bogotá
Arrival in Bogotá. Meet and greet with the tour guide and transfer to your hotel.

This morning you will visit La Candelaria, the historical quarter in downtown. Walk from Luis Ángel Arango library to Bolivar Palace to see the Cathedral, the National Capitol, Palacio Cardenalicio, El Sagrario Colonial Church, Casa del Florero and Lievano Palace. Following this you will visit the Presidential Palace followed by the colonial church of San Agustin. Then you visit the famous Gold Museum, which houses the world’s greatest collection of pre-Hispanic Indian gold crafts. You can then take the cable car up to Monserrate Hill (3,152 m.a.s.l.) for a stunning view of Bogotá. Lunch is included at one of the restaurants at the top of the hill. Note: The Gold Museum is closed on Mondays.

amazon walkDay 3 | Bogotá - Amazonas
Breakfast at the hotel and then transfer to the airport on private service to take the flight to Leticia. Arrival at Leticia airport, meet and greet with the tour guide and transfer to your hotel. Late lunch. Afternoon boat trip to see the Victoria Regia Lotus flower. Dinner and lodging at the selected hotel.

Day 4 | Amazonas - Marashá
After breakfast, travel by motorboat along the Amazon to the Peruvian side close to the village of Puerto Alegría. Here a jungle walk of about one hour will be made to reach the lagoon and jungle camp of MARASHA. Lunch in the reserve, followed by a boat trip in the lake. Return to Leticia. Late afternoon in the parrot park of Leticia, dinner and later, evening tour through the river to search for caimans.

monkey island tourDay 5 | Amazonas
Early breakfast followed by motorboat for an hour and a half up the Amazon to Monkey Island where passengers will have an opportunity to see and feed hundreds of monkeys that are accustomed to human contact. Later, visit the Tikuna community where you’ll be able to interact with the locals, learn much more about their story and culture. Next, visit the nearby town of Puerto Nariño and the lakes of Tarapoto to observe the famous yet rare freshwater pink or gray dolphins and learn about their preservation and how they coexist with humans in the Amazon. Lunch boxes included and continuation of the trip to return to Leticia. In the afternoon, transfer to Tabatinga, located in the Brazilian state of Amazonas, walk around the city and free time to shop. Return to the hotel and overnight.

Day 6 | Amazonas - Cartagena
Breakfast at the hotel and transfer outside the city to visit the serpentarium where you can interact with these creatures and learn about them. Lunch at the hotel. In the afternoon, transfer to the airport to take the flight to Bogotá - Cartagena.

cartagena tourAfternoon arrival in Cartagena. Meet and greet with the tour guide and transfer to your hotel. Remainder of the day at leisure. You may enjoy a walk around your hotel in the old city.

Day 7 | Cartagena: Monuments tour/Rum and chocolate tasting at Sofitel Santa Clara
Departure from the hotel to visit the most important monuments of Cartagena. The first stop is at La Popa, Convent of La Candelaria, built in the early seventeenth century on top of the hill with the same name, from where we have a stunning view of the city and bay. Then we head to San Felipe Fort which was built on the seventeenth century to protect the city from pirates. After a tour of this fortress, we go to “Las Bóvedas” (The Vaults) which were used as dungeons in days of yore and now we find shops and craft stores. We then continue our way to Plaza San Pedro Claver whose name honours the Spanish monk, known as the 'Slave of the African slaves'. Time at leisure to take some photos before returning to the hotel.

In the afternoon, pick up around 4:00 PM for chocolate tasting experience. This excursion offers a tasting of chocolates produced by national cacao of high quality, from Santander Department, paired with Colombian mature rum, from Antioquia and Caldas regions. The activity will be led by a sommelier in the wine cellar of Sofitel Santa Clara Hotel.

cartagenaDay 8 | Cartagena: Gastronomy Tour
Live a unique experience with Chef Jorge Escandón, selected in 2008 to be the host and only guide in Cartagena for the New York Chef Anthony Bourdain. His recipes are inspired by the flavors, colors and freshness of the products in the Caribbean region, and are designed to delight your palate. The dishes are prepared with an authentic taste and are presented with colorful exoticness.

The tour begins at the popular market of Bazurto where you get to know the different fish our Caribbean Sea has to offer, as well as the different fruits and vegetables. Also you will enjoy the traditional music of the city, see some popular dinning places, and the culture of the people from Cartagena. In the market you shop the food you are going to prepare, and then you proceeded to enjoy a cooking class that takes place at the Chef’s house in front of the sea, located in Manzanillo (20 minutes from the city). Here you share a delicious experience with the Chef who prepares a Caribbean Special Lunch with fresh fruits, vegetable and sea products.

The tour includes the shopping in the market, the cooking class and a lunch with an entrée, the main course, typical dessert, a bottle of water + juice or soda and a mojito, national beer or glass of wine.

Day 9 | Cartagena - Bogotá - Depart
Breakfast in the morning. Private transfer to the airport of Cartagena to take the flight to Bogotá and then take the flights back home.
