This 17 day tour covers the highlights of southern Chile and Argentina before continuing the journey north to witness the impressive Iguazu Falls and explore fascinating Buenos Aires. Time-permitting, we recommend extending your trip to include Easter Island and/or the Atacama Desert in Chile.

This tour can be done in reverse, starting in Buenos Aires.

Sample Itinerary

santiagoDay 1 | Arrive in Santiago
On arrival, you are met by an English speaking guide who will take you to your hotel. In the afternoon, depart for a tour of Santiago visiting monuments and important buildings such as: the San Francisco Church, Palacio del Moneda, Plaza de Armas, Iglesia cathedral and Museo Historico Nacional. Day 2 | Full day Vina del Mar and Valparaiso
Morning departure for a 90-minute drive to Valparaiso. Continue along the coastal road towards Viña del Mar, one of South America’s leading resort towns. Here you will see beautiful green avenues, squares and impressive buildings. Return to Santiago. Hotel. (B)

Day 3 | Santiago - Torres del Paine National Park
torres del paineTransfer to Santiago airport for your departure flight. Reception at the Punta Arenas airport and transfer to your hotel in the Torres del Paine area.  We have several hotels to choose from that offer an all-inclusive package including meals and daily tours. (B,L,D)

Day 4-6 |  Activities in Torres del Paine
You can participate in a variety of organized day trips offered by the hotel. (B,L,D)

Day 7 | Torres del Paine - El Calafate
Transfer from your hotel to the Argentina border. There, you will be met by the Argentina operator who will take you to your hotel in El Calafate. Remainder of the afternoon and evening at leisure. (B)

Day 8 |  Perito Moreno Glacier
perito morenoFull day excursion to see the impressive Perito Moreno Glacier, which has been declared a Mankind Heritage by Unesco.  Take an optional nautical safari along the south face of the Perito Moreno Glacier to appreciate the height of the ice and the frequent landslides of ice. More adventurous travellers will want to try the mini-trekking, which includes a short hike over the glacier.  You will be provided with special crampons to walk on the ice. (B)

Day 9 | Estancia Cristina
Full day excursion to Estancia Cristina.  Sail among the icebergs and stunning scenery overlooking the western front of the Upsala Glacier.  After lunch, board all-terrain vehicles and head up into the mountains for an impressive view of the Upsala Glacier. (B)

Day 10 | El Calafate - Buenos Aires - Iguazu
iguazu fallsTransfer to the Calafate airport for the flight to Buenos Aires and Iguazu.  Late evening arrival. (B)

Day 11 | Full day at Iguazu Falls
Iguazu has been declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO and one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature.  This morning you will visit the Argentinean side of the falls.  Take the train to Garganta Station, where you will disembark and walk up to the Devil's Throat Balcony.  Continue along the upper and lower paths to get a close view of the imposing waterfalls.  Optional Macuco Safari includes a water navigation and 4 wheel drive through the jungle. (B)

Day 12 | Iguazu - Buenos Aires
Optional morning visit to the Brazilian side of the falls (Canadian and US citizens require a Visa to enter Brazil). Transfer to the Iguazu Airport for your flight to Buenos Aires.  On arrival in Buenos Aires, you are met by a guide who will assist you with the transfer to the hotel. 

Day 13 | Buenos Aires
buenos airesAn exclusive visit of Buenos Aires, in which a professor of the University, uses four parks and plazas of Buenos Aires (Plaza de Mayo, Parque Lezama and La Boca, Plaza San Martin and Recoleta) to introduce visitors to Argentina, its history, its contrasts, its contradictions and the characteristic psychology of the “porteños”, the inhabitants of Buenos Aires. Afternoon at leisure.

This evening, enjoy a glamorous tango show in one of the most prestigious houses in Buenos Aires. Born in the outskirts of Buenos Aires at the turn of the century, Tango quickly grew to be the best known Argentine product worldwide. Enjoy this evening that will make you want to learn the dance yourself. Hotel (B,D)

Day 15 | Estancia El Ombu de Areco
Today, visit an authentic "estancia" - Estancia El Ombu de Areco - where you can appreciate the gaucho dexterity in cattle and horse management. You will also try some of the exquisite regional food, specially the delicious "asado". There will be possibilities to saddle up your own Argentine horse for a ride. Hotel. (B,L)

Day 16 | At leisure
Day at leisure.  Learn more about Buenos Aires and its people through experiences such as culinary tours, soccer tour, cooking or tango classes.    Tell us your interests and we can help you plan your activities. You can also take the ferry over to Colonia del Sacramento to spend the day exploring the colonial town. (B)

Day 17 |  Depart Buenos Aires
Your guide will transfer you to the airport for your departure flight. (B)
