Strategically set on the shore of Lake Pehoe in the heart of Torres del Paine, explora’s Hotel Salto Chico was conceived as an exploration base site. The hotel’s simple design showcases the unfathomable beauty of the natural environment. It features refined comfort for total relaxation and the best gear ideally suited for Patagonia. There are 49 rooms, each with a captivating view, silence and privacy. Salto Chico rooms, Cordillera Paine rooms and Exploradores Suite mainly vary in size and view (Salto Chico have views to the waterfalls, the others have views to the mountains).

The hotel operates all inclusive packages on 4 or 8 night basis, on set days; Transfers between local airport and your explora destination/Full board. 3 Meals per day/Daily explorations with bilingual guides and equipment; boats, horses and vehicles (max group size: 8 explorers per guide)/ All explora’s rates include entrance fee to Nature Reserves.

Explorations in Patagonia are done on foot or horseback, varying in length and also difficulty. Each evening the guides meet with you in the bar or living room to discuss available activities for the following day.

Sample 5 Day / 4 night Itinerary

Day 1 | Arrive at explora Patagonia
Reception at the Punta Arenas airport and transfer to the explora Patagonia Hotel, located in the Torres del Paine National Park.

Day 2 | explora Patagonia
You can participate voluntarily in a variety of organized day trips. You will find a few of these suggestions below, but there are many more. There are usually 5 different options for each day, which you can select based on the climate, your interests and level of fitness. These excursions are done by van, horseback, bicycle or on foot. You are always accompanied by an expert guide.

EXAMPLE EXCURSIONS:
Morning - Length: Half-day. Depart the hotel by vehicle towards Río Paine, Guardería Lago Grey. By foot: Río Pingo hanging bridge. Lago Grey peninsula. Return. Attractions: Mature lenga forest. View of Glaciar Grey. Icebergs along the beach. Level: Easy.

Afternoon - Length: Half-day. Depart the hotel by foot, ascending to the Mirador de los Cóndores and then descending towards Lago Pehoé. Return. Attractions: Introduction to the park, observe different species of plants and birds. Level: Medium.

Day 3 | explora Patagonia
EXAMPLE EXCURSION:
Length: Full day. Lunch: Traditional lamb and vegetable barbecue. Itinerary: Depart hotel. By vehicle: Cascada Río Paine. Guardería Laguna Amarga ranger station, Laguna Azl, Río de Las Chinas, Quincho explora. Short walks around the area. Attractions: Easy exploration, followed by a festive barbecue. View wildlife such as guanacos, Darwin’s rhea, condors, foxes, ducks, geese, and more. Río Paine Cascades. Level: Easy.

Day 4 | explora Patagonia
EXAMPLE EXCURSION:
Length: Half-day. Itinerary: Depart hotel. By vehicle: Guardería Laguna Amarga, Cascada Paine, Laguna Azul, Quincho explora. By horse: Río de las Chinas, Antarctic and deciduous beech forests. Return to Quincho. Attractions: View of the Sierra Baguales, Torres del Paine, Río de las Chinas. NOTE: Ride takes place before or after the barbecue at the Quincho. Level: Easy.Length: Half-day. Trail snacks. Itinerary: Depart hotel. By vehicle: Guardería Laguna Amarga, Cascada Paine, Laguna Azul. By foot: Shore of Laguna Azul, Mirador Torres del Paine. Attractions: Antarctic and deciduous beech forests, views of the Torres del Paine and Laguna Azul. NOTE: Can be taken before or after the barbecue at the Quincho. Level: Easy.

Day 5 | Depart explora Patagonia
Morning transfer to the Punta Arenas airport for your departure flight.

The lodge has 49 rooms, each with a small living area, hydromassage bath, and views to the Salto Chico waterfall or Macizo del Paine

(7) Salto Chico Rooms - measuring approx. 300 sq. ft. (28 sq. m.), these rooms have a view to the Salto Chico Waterfall.

(37) Cordillera Paine Rooms - measuring approx. 300 sq. ft. (28 sq. m.), these rooms have a view to the Macizo del Paine.

(6) Exploradores Suite - measuring approx. 450 sq. ft. (42 sq. m.), these rooms have a view to the Macizo del Paine and a more spacious sitting area
