This itinerary includes all the key areas Argentina has to offer. A car rental is suggested in the northwest region but isn’t necessary if you don’t like the idea of driving and prefer to have day excursions from Salta or pre-arranged transfers. On a trip such as this you would experience everything Argentina has to offer – city and country life, Patagonian wilderness, glaciers, lakes and desert!

Sample Itinerary

buenos aires tourDay 1 | Arrive in Buenos Aires
Met on arrival in Buenos Aires and taken to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure.

Day 2 | Buenos Aires
A half day tour of the city to introduce you to Argentina, its history, its contrasts, its contradictions and the characteristic psychology of the “porteños”, the inhabitants of Buenos Aires. You will visit the important buildings and neighbourhoods. In the evening enjoy a glamorous tango show in one of the prestigious houses in Buenos Aires.

Day 3 | Tigre Delta
Morning departure from Buenos Aires to visit the northern riverside districts of Tigre and San Isidro. Take a boat trip though the islands of the delta of the Parana River. Ride the “Tren de la Costa’ on your return .

Day 4 | Buenos Aires – El Calafate
Transfer to the airport in time for your flight to El Calafate. On arrival you will be met by your guide and driven to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure.

perito moreno tourDay 5 | Perito Moreno Glacier
A 5 hour excursion to the Perito Moreno Glacier. The first views of the majestic glacier are breathtaking vistas down a narrow arm of Lago Argentino with the imposing Andean Mountains as a backdrop. The startling contrast of colour, sound, motion and size creates a continuously changing mosaic of indescribable beauty.

Day 6 | Upsala Glacier Navigation
Full day cruise on Lago Argentino visiting the Upsala Glacier, the largest on the continental ice cap.

Day 7 | El Calafate – Bariloche
Transfer to the airport in time for your flight to Bariloche. On arrival in Bariloche, you are met by a guide who will take you to your hotel. In the afternoon, visit Bariloche and its surroundings including the nearby Cerro Otto, Llao Llao area and a panoramic drive along the Nahuel Huapi Lake.

bariloche tourDay 8 | Grand Circuit of Bariloche
Full day panoramic drive passing the Enchanted Valley, with its curious formations, Lake Traful and the little village of Traful. On the return drive, we drive parallel of the Nahuel Huapi Lake. We will visit Villa La Angostura before returning to Bariloche.

Day 9 | Isla Victoria and Arrayanes Forest
Begin with a 30-minute sail to Isla Victoria, where you can disembark for a walk through a conifer forest or ascend to a lookout point atop Cerro Bella Vista. The second stop is Península Quetrihué and the Arrayanes Forest, famous for its concentration of the unusual terra cotta-coloured arrayán tree.

Day 10 | Bariloche – Mendoza
Transfer to the airport in time for your flight to Mendoza. Met on arrival and driven to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure.

mendoza tourDay 11 | Mendoza and Surrounds
Full day tour visiting three wineries, with wine tasting and lunch included.

Day 12 | Mendoza and Surrounds
Day at leisure to perhaps relax at the hotel or arrange further wine tasting. Other possible activities in the area include hiking, rafting, biking and riding.

Day 13 | Salta and the Northwest
Transfer to the airport in time for your flight to Salta. Met on arrival and driven to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure to explore Salta and visit the excellent museums.

Day 14 | Salta to Cachi
Collect your hire car and drive southwest to Cachi and your hotel for the next two nights. This is a wonderful drive through Quebrada de Escoipe with the road winding around the mountains. Further on it becomes arid and you will pass through Parque Nacional Los Cardones which has a lot of huge candelabra cacti.

cachi tour Day 15 | Cachi and Surrounds
Explore the town and surrounding area by foot or car. There are some good walks in the area.

Day 16 | Cachi to Cafayate
A day of driving through stunning scenery and bumpy roads! Quebrada de las Flechas is wonderful with sharp rocks eroded into large spikes. Arrive in Cafayate and overnight for two nights.

Day 17 | Cafayate and Surrounds
Visit one of the nearby wineries or if you fancy another drive the road south to Quilmes is worth exploring.

Day 18 | Cafayate to Salta to Iguazu
Drive back to Salta and drop your car off in time for your flight to Iguazu. Met on arrival and driven to your hotel. You may have time for a visit to the falls, depending on your hotel choice and flight arrival time.

Enjoy a full day visit to the Argentine side of the Falls, exploring the walkways.

Day 20 | Iguazu and International Connections
You may have time for a half day tour to the Brazilian side of the falls before either flying back to Buenos Aires or to a destination in Brazil.
